What if nature wasn’t something you visited but something you lived in and experienced every day? What if you designed a neighbourhood around nature, not the other way around? These were questions Mulpha asked themselves when designing Norwest Quarter.
A study published in the prestigious Nature journal revealed that spending just 120 minutes a week in nature can improve your mental and physical well-being. Even the Australian Journal of General Practice advocates for ‘prescribing nature’ as part of everyday healthcare. That’s why Norwest Quarter was created as a Naturehood, a place where nature, community and sustainability unite to support a more balanced way of life while caring for the planet.
Here are eight ways Norwest Quarter delivers your daily dose of Vitamin Nature.
1 Homes where nature is a welcome permanent guest
Banksia and Lacebark homes maximise outdoor experiences with deep, spacious balconies for entertaining and a choice of views overlooking the lake, golf course, Blue Mountains or the surrounding landscape. The design of every home ensures that indoor and outdoor living spaces are bathed in natural light and ventilation for year-round feel-good living.
2 Mature and luscious trees
Did you know that Mulpha has been growing Norwest Quarter’s trees off-site for many years? From the moment you move in, you’ll be able to bask in leafy vistas, read a book under green canopies, hear birdsong from your balcony and enjoy restaurant dining amongst the trees. Thanks to their bigger size, our trees are reducing the urban heat island effect right from the start.
3 The biggest backyard you’ve ever had
Once the masterplan is complete, Norwest Quarter will boast 70% green space. Think of it as the biggest backyard you’ve ever had, except we take care of all the maintenance and landscaping, so you can just relax, explore and breathe it all in.
4 Gardens for you, veggies, bees, worms and more
Our communal gardens are already full of delicious organic veggies and herbs, being tended by a neighbourhood roster with help from our composting worm friends. You can also join the bush care, beekeeping and gardening groups to make new friends while enjoying time outdoors.
5 Palm-fringed azure water
Banksia’s luxurious rooftop pool sanctuary draws design cues from a tropical island beach with shady green palms, azure waters and abundant native landscaping. Open to all Norwest Quarter residents, it’s simply the perfect place to bring your Vitamins D and N together.
6 Your secret garden refuge
Lacebark’s idyllic hidden garden has abundant spaces to relax and immerse yourself in nature’s tranquillity. Open to all Norwest Quarter residents, this secret open-air refuge features a decked area and delightful pockets of comfy seating – perfect for reading, chatting with neighbours and making new friends.
7 100% native plants on the ground plane, that love where they live
Every single plant, big and small, on the ground plane, has been handpicked for its love of a particular aspect, including those on your beautiful balcony. They’re 100% native, low-maintenance plants that we know will thrive in their home while keeping birds, bees and other local wildlife healthy and happy. What’s more, Norwest Quarter’s landscaping team ensures rolling seasonal beauty, meaning you’ll enjoy colour and scents all year round.
