We’re proud that Mulpha was recently awarded a 4-gold star iCIRT rating in recognition of our strength, reliability and transparency as a developer. But, as a buyer, what does this actually mean for you? What is iCIRT, and why is it such an essential tool for evaluating off-the-plan apartments? I sat down with Andrew Nichols, Director NSW Developments at Mulpha, to ask the questions that many buyers have on their minds and provide added peace of mind during your purchase journey.

Jane: Thanks for your time, Andrew. To begin, what is iCIRT, and why is it important?

Andrew: iCIRT stands for the Independent Construction Industry Rating Tool. It’s a government-backed star-rating to help homebuyers find trustworthy building professionals. The tool assesses and rates developers based on key trust indicators, such as financial stability, transparency, delivery track record, and governance, so buyers can make an informed choice with greater confidence.

Jane: What does Mulpha’s 4-gold star rating mean in real terms for our Norwest Quarter homebuyers?

Andrew: We’re delighted that Mulpha has been awarded a strong 4 out of 5 gold star rating, reflecting our commitment to delivering quality apartment buildings that far exceed minimum code requirements. iCIRT states that a 3-gold star rating or higher indicates a trustworthy business with a demonstrated ability to honour its commitments and fix defects. Our high 4-gold-star rating shows that we exceed industry benchmarks, giving our buyers certainty and confidence in their purchase.

Jane: What’s involved in the iCIRT rating process?

Andrew: It’s a rigorous process. Equifax, the ratings agency behind iCIRT, evaluates our business and performance against six key criteria: Capability, Conduct, Character, Capacity, Capital, and Counterparties. Everything from our finances and governance to our performance on past projects matters. You have to earn your iCIRT rating, and we have to get reassessed regularly to make sure we’re maintaining standards.

Jane: Does this mean buyers can expect the highest quality homes?

Andrew: Absolutely. We build quality in from the start and work with the best to detect and resolve anything during the construction phase. We work closely with Jerry Tyrell, known as the Father of the Property Inspection Industry in Australia. Jerry is a terrific advocate of our quality . iCIRT gives you an extra layer of confidence that if an issue arises, you’re dealing with a company that has the capability, resources and track record to fix it.

Jane: Norwest Quarter has also achieved some other important ‘stars.’

Andrew: Yes, we’re extremely proud to have achieved a 8.1 NatHERS star rating, which is a testament to Mulpha’s commitment to sustainable design. NatHERS is the Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme. 8.1 stars is an outstanding rating, compared to an average 5.8-star rating achieved by five competing developments* in the area. The benefits of such a high rating mean our buyers can enjoy reduced energy bills, enhanced comfort, improved health and well-being with less environmental impact.
